The 26th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 22nd September 1801 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Quiz, a chestnut colt by Buzzard out of Miss West, owned by Gilbert Crompton on behalf of Mr Goodricke. The winner went into the St Leger as a maiden but came out of it victorious. It raced in the name of Gilbert Crompton but was actually owned by Mr Henry Goodricke.
